There are two fundamental device management types:
Monitoring and Control
The ability to gather information from and perform actions on Tripp Lite devices. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Displaying device status and metrics
- Event notification via email / SNMP trap
- Logging
- Running self-tests
- Device configuration
- Power-cycling outlets
Monitoring and Control generally apply to Tripp Lite PDUs, UPS systems, ATS units, KVMs, COOLNET products, etc.
Automated Shutdown
The ability to gracefully and automatically perform a shutdown for one or more computers when a critical power event occurs. For example, when a UPS system is operating on battery power, one should initiate a graceful shutdown before battery reserves are exhausted.
