Frequently Asked Questions

Your Tripp Lite power strip with GFCI is designed to pass power continuously to the electronic devices plugged into it, when used under normal operating conditions as instructed in the owner’s manual. The unit may not pass power for several reasons: -A severe surge has occurred and damaged the power strip. -The unit is connected to an AC source that is not passing power. -The GFCI input plug on the unit has been tripped due to a wet or humid environment. Follow these instructions in an attempt to restore normal operation: 1. Power off and remove any equipment Off position. 2. Remove the unit from the AC power source. 3. Reset the GFCI input plug on the power strip by pushing the reset button on the GFCI. 4. Check to make sure that the power strip's AC source is passing power. Plug a device, such as a radio or alarm clock, into the AC source. Be sure that the connected device is working properly. 5. Verify that the area around the unit, along with the unit itself, is not exposed to moisture or humidity. 6. Plug the power strip into a working AC source. 7. Toggle the master switch of the unit to the On position. 8. Attach a small device, such as a radio or alarm clock, to the power strip to test if the unit is passing power. If you have followed these steps and the power strip is still not passing power, the unit requires replacement.
The master switch on Tripp Lite power strips is designed to work each time it is used. In the event that the switch does not respond when toggled, the unit requires replacement. Follow these instructions to verify that the switch is or is not working properly: 1. Remove any equipment still plugged into the unit. 2. Be sure that the master switch is in the OFF position, when applicable. 3. Unplug the unit from the AC power source. 4. If your unit has a circuit breaker, check to make sure it is reset. 5. For GFCI-equipped models (TLM609GF, TLM812GF, and TLM825GF), reset the GFCI input plug. 6. The power strip requires a working 120V AC power source that provides computer-grade power. Check the 120V AC power source by plugging a different device into the outlet. After verifying that the AC source outlet is passing power, plug the power strip into the outlet. 7. With the power strip plugged into the AC source, toggle the master switch to the ON position, when applicable. 8. Attach a small device, such as an alarm clock or radio, to the power strip to test if the unit is passing power from each outlet. If, after you have followed these steps, the master switch is still not operating properly, the unit requires replacement.
