Frequently Asked Questions

Follow the instructions below to perform a discharge reset for Omni LCD and Smart LCD 1kVA and below UPS systems: 1. Press and hold the ON/OFF button on the front panel and release the button after the UPS emits a single beep. The UPS will now be powered off; the LCD screen will not be lit and there will be no AC output from the Battery-Backup/Surge-Protected outlets. 2. Disconnect the UPS from its AC input source. Verify the UPS is powered off by checking to make sure that the LCD screen is not lit and that the UPS is not passing power from the Battery-Backup/Surge-Protected outlets and the Surge-Protected-Only outlets. 3. Remove the screw that secures the battery door of the UPS and remove the battery door. 4. Tilt the UPS to allow the battery to partially slide away from the UPS, exposing the battery terminals. Locate the red and black battery cables connected to the battery. Using needle-nose pliers, disconnect one of the UPS DC input cables, either the red or black cable, from the battery. Make sure that the cable does not come in contact with the opposite battery terminal. 5. Press and hold the On/Off button on the front panel for 10 seconds and then release it. 6. Reconnect the red or black UPS DC input cable to the terminal from which it was disconnected. Note: There may be a slight arc when reconnecting the input cable. 7. Reinstall the battery door. 8. Connect the UPS to a known working AC source. The Surge-Protected-Only outlets will begin to pass power. 9. To power on the unit, press and hold the On/Off button and release it after the UPS emits a single beep. The LCD screen will illuminate and the UPS will begin passing power from the Battery-Backup/Surge-Protected outlets.
Follow the steps below to measure the DC voltage for an Omni-series UPS: 1. Power off the UPS by pressing and holding the on/off button; release the button when the unit emits a beep. 2. Disconnect the UPS from the AC source. 3. Remove the battery access door. 4. Locate the red and black battery cables connected to the battery or batteries that connect the cell(s) to the UPS itself. 5. Using needle nose pliers, disconnect the UPS DC input cables from the battery or batteries. If more than one internal battery is used by the unit, do not disconnect the battery cables that connect the cells. Measure the DC voltage of the battery set from the positive and negative battery terminals used to connect the cell(s) directly to the UPS. Verify the required DC voltage for the UPS in question (e.g. 12VDC, 24VDC, etc.). Review the following Battery Charge Voltage Chart to determine the minimum required DC voltage for the unit.
