Tripp Lite keeps power flowing to remotely located business in Scotland during utility outages and severe weather

Patterson Industries is a business consultancy that specializes in product design and manufacturing of computer systems and oil-related sub-sea surveys. Serving clients in the United Kingdom and around the world, the company relies heavily on computers and communications equipment to conduct business. When the company moved its headquarters in Orkney, a remote part of Scotland, it brought along Tripp Lite Power Protection. Turned out to be a positive-and critical-decision for the company.

Patterson found that the local utility company could not supply power for a week. Tripp Lite Powerverter® Inverter/Chargers were put into action to provide enough power to run lighting systems so the company could relocate and adhere to its moving timetable, with negligible negative impact from power loss. Business was conducted without interruption. Tripp Lite power protection saved the day. And would do so again and again.

No sooner had Patterson Industries settled into their new headquarters, the Scottish winter came on, bringing volleys of severe weather, often arriving unexpectedly. The result was frequent power cuts and fluctuations, which took the form of blackouts, brownouts, voltage sags, spikes, and line interruptions. These can cause data loss, downtime and damage to computers. Each time a power disturbance threatened, Patterson Industries headed off potential disaster by using Tripp Lite 36V DC-to-AC inverter/chargers. The Powerverter Alternative Power Sources provided reliable backup power, automatic voltage regulation, line conditioning and protection for Patterson's mission-critical systems that include computers, servers, programming equipment and a security system.

Charles L. Patterson, owner of Patterson Industries (www.patterson-industries.com.), told us about the importance of backup power by Tripp Lite. "The power cuts we experienced often lasted a few hours at a time and were uncanny in that they arrived at the most inconvenient times, such as when we were providing service to a customer. An immediate cost could be placed on the resulting disruption, but it is the long-term effects which can potentially hurt business. Customers don't remember the power cut, but they recall the poor service, and in a small town like ours, the word soon spreads."

Patterson states that his company's reliance on technology makes Tripp Lite power protection an everyday necessity. "It provides us with the security we require. Tripp Lite products are built to a very high standard and perform exceptionally well in the environment and for the purpose they are intended. When I need to give 100% reliability to my customers, it is nice to know that a company like Tripp Lite is behind me, giving 100% also."

Tripp Lite is pleased and honored that Patterson Industries owner Charles L. Patterson finds Tripp Lite a reliable partner for power protection. "I have a very high regard for Tripp Lite and their products. They are always professional, always friendly, and always make me feel that I am important." said Patterson.
