  Q:

What type of KVM do I need to run four USB systems with a PS/2 mouse and keyboard?

  A:

Use a B022-004-R KVM Switch with four P776-006 USB Cable Kits.

  Q:

I require IP remote access to my B020-016. Is this possible?

  A:

No. The only Tripp Lite KVM Switches that feature IP remote access are the B060-032, B022-016 and B007-008.

  Q:

Can the B020-008 and B020-016 KVM Switches be daisy-chained?

  A:

Yes, the B020-008 and B020-016 can be daisy-changed by connecting them to the B022-016 KVM Switch.

  Q:

Is it possible to use a USB keyboard with B020- or B022- KVM Switch models?

  A:

Currently these KVM Switches require a PS/2 keyboard. However, if your USB keyboard came with a PS/2 adapter, this may enable it to work with the B020- and B022- models.

  Q:

Are there drivers available for Tripp Lite KVM Switches?

  A:

No. Tripp Lite KVM Switches do not require additional drivers to work properly. All emulation is built in.

  Q:

Which Tripp Lite KVM Switches support Mac?

  A:

All Tripp Lite KVM Switches except the B034-002-R support Mac.

  Q:

Can I have multiple operators on a Tripp Lite KVM Switch?

  A:

Yes. The B060-032 is capable of accepting up to four users simultaneously. For other KVM models, KVM extender B013-000 (which can be attached to any KVM except the B020-016 and B020-008), allows you to have two consoles — one local and one remote. Both consoles connect to the same server — one as the master and the other as the slave. The slave console is viewable only if the master console is in use.

  Q:

Can I connect an 8-Port KVM to a Tripp Lite Console KVM (B020-016 or B020-008) or 16-Port KVM switch (B022-016)?

  A:

The only KVM that can be connected to our Console KVMs 008 and 16-Port KVM is the B022-016 16-Port KVM switch.

  Q:

What KVM can I connect to an 8-Port KVM Switch (B007-008)?

  A:

Another 8-Port KVM Switch (B007-008).

  Q:

Can I connect a USB computer to a PS/2 KVM Switch?

  A:

Yes, with a USB-to-PS/2 Adapter. Use B015-000 for a PC and U218-000-R (which supports the Sun and Mac dedicated keys) for a Sun or Mac.

  Q:

What is the difference between the two USB-to-PS/2 Adapters offered by Tripp Lite?

  A:

The B015-000 is designed for use with PCs only. The U218-000-R is a universal adapter. It works with PCs and also supports the dedicated key functions on Sun and Mac systems.

  Q:

Can I use a Console Extender (B013-000) with a console KVM (B020-016 or B020-008)?

  A:

No. There is no way to connect a console extender to these KVMs. They are hardwired to their consoles and have no console ports.

  Q:

Can I connect an external mouse to a console KVM (B020-016 or B020-008)?

  A:

No. These KVMs have no mouse port.

  Q:

Is the Console Extender (B013-000) only for use with Tripp Lite KVM Switches?

  A:

No, the B013-000 is universal. It may be used with any KVM switch that has PS/2 console ports.

  Q:

What switch should I use to connect both PS/2 and USB computers to a single console?

  A:

Since it is not possible to connect a PS/2 system to a USB KVM switch, you must use a PS/2 KVM with a USB-to-PS/2 adapter (B015-000 or U218-000-R) for each USB system to be connected.

  Q:

Can I use the PS/2 port on a notebook computer to connect to a KVM switch?

  A:

No, you must use the USB port. The PS/2 port is used for both the mouse and the keyboard, polling between the two. Connecting a KVM will cause the port to lock up.

  Q:

Can I rack-mount a Tripp Lite 4-port KVM switch?

  A:

No. Our 4-Port KVM switches are not rack mountable.

  Q:

Can my Console KVM (B020-008 or B020-016) fit any rack?

  A:

Tripp Lite Console KVMs will fit any 4-post rack system. The mounting rails are adjustable.

  Q:

I forgot the password on my KVM. Now what?

  A:

Existing passwords can be cleared. Follow the instructions in the owner's manual.
